This is one of the most common dog door installation locations by letting your pet use the same door you do.  This installation often works best because of existing porches, steps, landings, etc. that are built outside people doors. By putting the pet door in the bottom of the people door, the outside accessibility is usually already in place and you no longer have to play "doggie doorman".
